The Sun-Sentinel reports that federal safety authorities have announced a recall of stadium-style light poles made by the Whitco Co out of Forth Worth, Texas. So far, there are “11 reports of steel poles breaking and falling onto school gymnasiums and playing fields,” according to the Sun Sentinel.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says that this recall includes 2,500 poles. The poles are reportedly 70 feet tall and weigh from one to four tons, writes the Sun Sentinel. These poles were installed between 2000 and 2005.
Although the Sun Sentinel reports that 10 South Florida locations use these poles, so far, authorities say they remain in good condition, and there are no problems with them.
