An accident in Pompano Beach takes a mans life  early Thursday and closed several lanes of traffic for hours, authorities said.

The accident happened Fort Lauderdale just at 6 a.m. when a  trailer driving on the north-bound lanes of I-95 lost a tire, Florida Highway Patrol Spokesman Mark Wysocky said. The wheel flew over the median, smashing a car in the south-bound lanes and causing a  truck to rear end a Grand Marquis.

Police said the impact caused the Grand Marquis to catch flame, trapping the driver inside. The driver was killed, and another person was injured, Wysocky said.

The car accident caused delays on I-95 for over three hours.  South-bound lanes on the highway were closed for two hours.
